Some artists are actually taking matters into their own hands, instead of sitting around complaining about how bad the economy is and how hard it is to get their work out there! They've started this group in Houston called Alive & Well Artists. The idea behind the group is a bunch of artists getting together to support each other, to create their own venues to display their work and (perhaps most importantly) to focus on what they CAN do instead of dwelling on how hard things are.
It's very inspiring, but knowing the creator of this group (Linda Posey a published author, successful business owner, artist and all-around Can-Do person) I'm not surprised.
